Mike Wilcox Albums like Worm Monolith’s eponymous release are a unique thing. They have a mind and life of their own. They breathe and change with every play through. Whereas with one spin you might hear what sounds akin to a passing subway train, full of its passengers, each with their own dreams and lives, experiences and hardships, the next spin you might not hear the passing train, as though it’s been stricken from existence, banished from the universe and a cold shadow now exists in its place, emanating a sinister vibration, an endless thrum outside of the realm of Law and time...this album exists in the hearts and depths of the mind of those who choose to journey past the known boundaries, those who don’t care to look back.......the concept piece is a nice touch as well, a choose your own ending as it were, allowing the depths and/or reaches of the mind of the listener to decide what has become of the space man. Or are we the wayward travelers here?... Favorite track: Nebula.

about

Worm Monolith’s self-titled debut is a cold, unrelenting reminder that music exists well beyond the cozy boundaries of modern-day radio-friendly pop and soft rock. The album is a concept album, and uses harsh, rhythmic noise as a tool to bring the listener along on the journey of a wayward space traveler.

The traveler is lost, with no supplies, and no navigational equipment. He must ultimately decide upon the fate of his journey based purely on instinct and common sense. As time passes, he is witness to space anomalies, as well as the total destruction of a starship of unknown origins. He is also given the opportunity to meet and document new alien races, and gather what information he can to assist in the journey ahead. It is up to the listener to decide if the traveler ever reaches his final destination.

Haunting, raw, and clocking in at over one hour, "Worm Monolith" is the first in a trilogy of concept albums that serve to explore the human condition and lash out against modern brainwashing and herd mentality. The album is designed to be consumed as one cohesive work, and as such, individual track downloads have been disabled.

This album features gapless playback.

The digital version comes complete with PDF liner notes, and the physical version is available as a limited, professionally manufactured cassette.
